All primary schools receive a grant through the PE and Sport premium. At Creswell C of E Infant & Nursery School we use this grant to deliver engaging, challenging and high quality PE curriculum to all children.
During 2024, the grant has been put towards employing qualified skilled sport coaches to work with our teachers to deliver PE to all children. Our sports coaches also run after school clubs which focus on fundamentals, team games and competitive sports. In addition we employ a dance teacher for weekly PE lessons, team teaching with the class teachers to develop dance skills. This teacher also runs a fun after school club.
The impact of the way we sue the sports grant is that all children at Creswell Infant and Nursery School benefit from high quality PE provision for school staff and sports experts. Our aim is for all children to receive at least 2 hours of PE each week. In addition to this we are developing our play times to promote activity and exercise. We also encourage active learning throughout the curriculum and incorporate brain breaks throughout the day.
Our children are learning PE through a skills-based curriculum, which means that children gain new skills each year and are taught the basics early on. Our teachers are passionate about their subjects, so children gain enthusisam and positivity towards physical exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This in turn has a positive effect on self-esteem and well-being of all children.
