Yellow Class 2019/20

     Welcome to Yellow Class

Our teacher is Mrs Hamilton and our teaching assistants are Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Wingfield.
It's wonderful to be back and ready to begin Year 2!
We have lots of exciting topics this year, starting with Fabulous Forests.
This term we are discovering all about Fabulous Forests.
To start our topic we received a letter from Forest Ranger Rob and he set us some challenges!
We had lots of fun exploring the woods around our school, collecting leaves, feathers and seeds to make a talking stick about our day. We also designed minibeasts to live in the forest and took bark rubbings.
The whole day was finished with songs around the campfire with delicious hot chocolate and marshmallows.
Look out for our bugs and talking sticks next time you are in our classroom!

We will  be looking at different types of forests around the world, in particular the Amazon Rainforest. We will learn about the habitats in the rainforests and the animals that live there.
We would love to share any facts or books the children find about forests so please bring them in.
This term PE is on Tuesday and Thursday. On Tuesday we will be learning skills to play basketball.
Please make sure your child's PE kit is in school every week and all the kit has their name in.
If your child has pierced ears please remove earrings or provide tape to cover them on PE days to ensure their safety.
Time for a challenge!
To help promote reading in our school, we challenge you to bring in a photograph of your child reading in the most unique places: this could be reading on a bike; upside down on the bed; anything you like (as long as it's safe). We will display these photos on our reading tree.
