Key Information

Reading

We love reading in our class and have lots of opportunities to read and to be read to throughout each day. Please remember to bring your reading records and book bags daily so that you can change your book in the library during morning work.  It is really important that every child practises reading at home too and records this in the reading record.  When a child reads 3 or more times a week at home they will be added to our ‘Reading Champ’ trophies which are displayed in our classroom. They also receive Dojo’s or a special prize! Happy Reading!

Spelling Shed

The children will be set a weekly spelling challenge. The spellings will be set online via ‘Spelling Shed’ for the children to practise at home. An in class challenge will be set the following Monday.

PE Days

Our P.E days are Monday and Wednesday. Please keep a P.E kit in school clearly labelled with names. We will do P.E in most conditions so please make sure clothes are weather appropriate. Safety comes first so please make sure that earrings are taped over or taken out on those days.

Learning Links

Phonics Play - We love the Obb and Bob game to practise our phonics skills.

Maths - Have a look at our Maths learning wall to see what we are learning this week then have a go at some of these games at home.

Autumn 1
Fabulous Forests!

We kicked off our topic this term with a trip to Sherwood pines! We had a wonderful day exploring the forest. We had the opportunity to meet a Ranger and even some real life Minibeasts!
Our visit inspired us to learn all about 'Fabulous Forests', from the trees to animal habitats.  We even had a giant snail and millipede visit thank you to Deon in Year 2! We would also like to thank all of the parents/carers who attended our 'Autumn Poetry Recital'.
We LOVE Welly Wednesday in Pink class. Every week we have the pleasure of working with Mrs Alder learning all about our very own woodland. We have learnt how to identify trees in our locality using leaves and seeds as clues and how to tie knots to put up our shelter. Whether we are serving up mud pies in our mud kitchen or whittling sticks to make stick people we love taking our learning outdoors whatever the weather!
Autumn 2

Fabulous Forests Continued...

HAPPY DIWALI! We really enjoyed learning all about the festival of light on our first week back. We were inspired to design, make and evaluate our own Diya lamps. We used the I-pad to take pictures of each others Diya lamps.
Our forest learning has continued this term but with a focus on rainforests. We have been script writing and practising reading our scripts to create adverts. Take a look! I am sure you will be tempted to visit!
Spring 1
Castles!

We arrived back to school and our classroom had been wrecked! Chairs pushed over, ripped table cloths and crime scene tape all over. After some investigating we found out that Princess Heldra had held a royal banquet but had been swooped out of the classroom by a dragon! We will continue to investigate the situation! Make sure to come back  and stay updated.
