Green Class 2018/19

Welcome to Green Class
Your teacher is Mrs Hamilton and we are lucky to welcome the lovely Mrs Fisher as our Parent Helper, who joins us in our exciting learning every day.
This term we have been learning about Magical Lands.
We had lots of fun exploring the Enchanted Forest to see who we would find.
This half term in maths we will be learning about place value, number bonds, odd and even and counting in multiples of 2s, 5s and 10s. We will also be continuing to learn about addition and subtraction, and how to use number lines and hundred squares.
PE is on Mondays and we will be learning the Fundamentals of Movement with Adam. Please make sure your child's PE kit is in school every week and all the kit has their name in.
If your child has pierced ears please remove earrings or provide tape to cover them on PE days to ensure their safety.
Spring Term 2019
This term we are travelling "Out of this World!" as we learn all about space.
It all began when an alien spaceship crash landed on our school grounds. The children investigated the crash site and wrote a letter to NASA to explain what they had found.
This term in Science we have been learning about natural and man made materials and describing their properties. We have tested materials to learn which material is best for waterproof clothing.
We love using technology and ICT at school.
We are learning about how to use the internet safely with Hectors World. This shows us what we can do to stay safe when online at school and at home. Look out for our E- Safety board and posters in the classroom.
We have also had lots of fun with the Beebots and making algorithms for them to follow.
The children had an amazing time holding an Alien Tea Party for their family.
It began with a presentation from the children to tell everyone about their learning this term and share their favourite space songs and rhymes.
Then it was time for the party to begin. There were all kinds of treats to eat from flying saucers to Saturn ring crisp!
There was also a challenge for the children and parents- to make an alien to decorate a cup cake. There were lots of creative ideas and fun and it was a fun filled afternoon.
Thank you to all the parents who came and made it such a fantastic event and celebration of our topic.
Summer Term 2019
Welcome back after the holiday. I hope you've had a good time and are ready for our exciting new topic
What Makes Great Britain Great?
We have learnt lots of facts and information about our capital city London and the amazing buildings you can see there. Look out for our posters and fact files in the London Tourist Office in our classroom!
In art we have been looking at portraits of famous people, starting with Queen Elizabeth II. We decided to make our own portraits of the Queen and they are now on display in our gallery.
