Blue Class 2019/20
Welcome to Blue Class.
Your teaching staff are Mrs Lancashire, Mrs Weller and Mrs Sharpe.
We look forward to the coming year and seeing you all develop and aim high.
Welcome back everyone!
It's good to get back into routine and the children have settled very well.
This term we will be learning about Fabulous Forests.
If you or your child has any resources that would be interesting to share with the other children, please do not hesitate to bring them in for us to see. In particular, we will be learning about the forests around the world; the Amazon Rainforest; how to make chocolate and deforestation.
Launch day - investigating things in the forest and making our own camp fire.
Time for a challenge!
To help promote reading in our school, we challenge you to bring in a photograph of your child reading in the most unique places: this could be reading on the bike; upside down on the bed; anything you like (as long as it's safe). We will display these photos on our reading display, to hopefully encourage others to read too.
New Power Maths
Representing numbers in different ways, using different concrete objects.
A heartfelt Congratulations to the wonderful Year 2 children, who attended the cenotaph on Monday morning, for the Remembrance poppy wreath laying. The were praised for their excellent behaviour and demonstration of respect for our fallen heroes. Thank you to all of you.
Today the children have had lots of fun learning how to control the wheelchairs, in wheelchair basket ball. Excellent behaviour, children and well done.
Many thanks to Mr. Preece for coming in to visit the children and answer their questions about his experiences in Afghanistan, as part of our Remembrance week.
Thank you to all the children for the wonderful behaviour at the Pantomime on Tuesday. It was wonderful to see you all enjoying yourselves so much.
A reminder to parents about the Carol Concerts next week. The performances will be Wednesday at 9.30am and at 1.30pm, and Thursday at 9.30am. Please ensure that the correct coloured clothing is brought in for Tuesday's dress rehearsal. Thank you.
Welcome back, everyone, and a happy new year to you all.
Our new topic is 'Who lives in a place like this?'
The children began their new learning, yesterday, with a visit from Sir Teachalot. Robert de Hood led the children through the magical world of knights, castles, jousting and combat.
They had a terrific day and learned much about the defence and construction of these amazing structures.
Did you know that in 1066 England had 3 different Kings ruling throughout the year? The last one, William, was crowned King on Christmas Day - does that make them the 3 Kings we sing about :-) ?
